Climber/Tower Crane Rigger Renewal

This course is a renewal requirement for the holder of a NYC Climber/Tower Crane Rigger License. To renew this certification in NYC, all workers must successfully complete 8 hours of training as mandated by the 2014 Construction Code, Building Code Chapter 33. In this course, students will cover a shorthand version of the original 30 Hour Climber/Tower Crane Rigger course, including OSHA Subparts, Title 1 Rules of the City of New York Chapters 6 and 9, all applicable construction codes and a variety of Crane & Derrick Codes including: Crane Assembly and Disassembly, use of slings, signaling, Crane & Hoist inspections, rigging requirements, common safety problems, amongst other topics.

8 Hours (excluding breaks and lunch time) CRA-203 0.8 A wallet sized certificate will be issed at the conclussion of the course, which can be used to fulfill requirements of a Worker and Supervisor SST Card. This training course is valid for four (4) years

Upon completing this course, the students will be able to:

  • Describe the industry standards and best practices.
  • Outline and explain the rigging requirements.
  • Explain the thorough use of slings.
  • Explain the importance of fall prevention.
  • Describe how to properly use fall controls.
  • Demonstrate making decisions about PPE.
  • Identify hazards and worksite accidents through the application of OSHA 1926 construction standards, specifically as they pertain to cranes and rigging.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Individuals taking this renewal course must already possess an expired or soon to be expired Climber/Tower Rigger license. In order to take this course, a student must present their previous license and/or certificate of completion.

An license must not have been expired for any more than a year in order to be elegible for this course. Should your license already be expired for more than one course, you will be required to take the full 30 Hour Climber/Tower Rigger Training Course.

100% attendance of this course is required to gain certification. Students must attend all 8 Hours, and are expected to be on time as per Quantum Safety’s rules.

To fulfill all requirements of both Quantum Safety’s testing and the Department of Buildings (DOB), students must be able to demonstrate they have a achieved the learning outcomes.

To clearly demonstrate these objectives, every student must pass a final exam before certification and achieve at least a 65% passing grade and must be proficient in their hands-on performance assessment on the scaffold.

Note: Final exams can be attempted as many times as necessary.

LATENESS AND ABSENCES POLICY

30 minutes is considered the maximum allowed time for lateness. Any student who is absent for any training, or who shows up 30 minutes after the scheduled starting time will be asked to schedule a make-up training day for the contact hours.

Note: No incomplete contact hours certifications will be issued. Students must make-up any missed time for their courses.
