CRA-105: Climber/Tower Crane Rigger - 30 Hours

Climber/Tower Crane Rigger

This course is a LICENSING requirement for all applicants for a NYC Climber/Tower Crane Rigger License. In this course, students will cover the basics of Cranes & Derricks, OSHA subpart pertaining to Cranes and Derricks, Chapter 6 and 9 of the Rules of the City of New York pertaining to Cranes and Rigging, and a variety of topics relate to Tower Cranes including crane assembly and disassembly, Slings, Signaling, Rigging requirements and Hoist inspections, amongst others.

30 Hours (excluding breaks and lunch time) CRA-105 3.0 A wallet sized certificate will be issed at the conclussion of the course, which can be used to fulfill requirements of a Worker and Supervisor SST Card. This training course is valid for five (5) years

Upon completing this course, the students will be able to:

  • Describe CFR 29 OSHA 1926 subparts E, H, K, L, M and Cs.
  • Describe Title 1 Rules of the City of New York Chapter 6 (cranes) and Chapter 9 (rigging).
  • Describe the applicable NYC Construction Codes.
  • Apply Crane and Derrick safety protocol and emergency procedures.
  • Explain safety plans regulations.
  • Describe common worksite safety violations and DOB penalties for noncompliance.
  • Discuss the regulations for safe tool usage.
  • List reoccurring worksite safety problems.
  • Build a comprehensive Site Safety Plan and Emergency Action Plan according to NYC DOB requirements.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

100% attendance of this course is required to gain certification. Students must attend the full 30 Hours, and are expected to be on time as per Quantum Safety’s rules.

To fulfill all requirements of both Quantum Safety’s testing and the Department of Buildings (DOB), students must be able to demonstrate they have a achieved the learning outcomes.

To clearly demonstrate these objectives, every student must pass a final exam before certification and achieve at least a 65% passing grade.

Note: Final exams can be attempted as many times as necessary.

LATENESS AND ABSENCES POLICY

30 minutes is considered the maximum allowed time for lateness. Any student who is absent for any training, or who shows up 30 minutes after the scheduled starting time will be asked to schedule a make-up training day for the contact hours.

Note: No incomplete contact hours certifications will be issued. Students must make-up any missed time for their courses.
